Parenting in the 21st Century:
Public Speaking Engagements

This century is full of parental challenges.

As an elementary, middle, and high school principal, I have spoken to thousands of parents who are trying so hard to create a real connection with their children, only to find that they cannot compete with their kids’ desire for e-connection.

Whether it is a toddler screaming for his iPad, or a third-grader begging for an iPhone, or a teen whose happiness depends on what her friends post on social media, or a budding gamer whose only friends are his online gaming buddies that he has never even met in person… these parenting challenges are real.

The connection to your children starts with you.

Gone are the days of family road trips where you pass the time by playing games like “20 questions” with your kids or honking your horn every time a truck passes.

Now you give your child an iPad to get some quiet. What message does this send to your son or daughter?

Parents want to guide their children but compete for attention with “influencers” on social media. Your children want to be understood, but you cannot relate to them as hard as you try.

Parents want their kids to be more focused, but they do not focus on their kids.

How many times have YOU dismissed your child while you are on the phone or answering email? Worth repeating, the connection to your children starts with you.

It is a giant cluster!

As a former school counselor and principal (including elementary, middle, and high school), I have observed and interacted with thousands of parents and students over the past 20 years.

This experience has allowed understanding the incredible complexities involved in raising children growing up in the 21st century.

Whether you want me to come to your “mom and me” group or need a speaker for a large audience, please contact me. My favorite thing to do is speak to parents to provide them with a new perspective.

Text me today to schedule a speaking event.

Unplug and discover new ways to learn and connect with your child.

In these public speaking events, we look at what parents can “control” about raising kids and how to approach the things outside of their control.

We need to talk about protecting your children and what happens to them later in life when you are over-protective.

For instance, we address the question, what does it mean to guide children toward the right path versus providing them with the tools and support to find their path?

Let me begin the conversation.

In my previous education roles, I have found ways to talk to all kinds of kids, ranging from the super quirky gamers to the most popular student.

I have yet to meet a student who was unwilling to talk to me about their challenges.

In these talks, I share my little secrets with you on how to become a kid-connector.

Contact me today if you would like me to speak at your school, temple, church, or informal parenting group.
